“everybody’s working for the weekend”…

okay, so the title (above) was taken from a song from the 80s and i’m sure that people pumped that song up on the raido as they got ready to leave the office on a friday evening. anyhoo, you know how lots of people work through the week and can’t wait to live it up on the weekend? well, i think that’s kind of funny because for us church folk even as we are ministering through the week, we literally are working for the weekend. we are working to make it happen.  we’re getting ready for message, music, youth/children’s ministry, multiple services, etc. etc.  so here’s a question, when you get to the weekend services, how do you approach it? do you go in ready to rock and get your heart and mind rocked by God?  can you imagine if you allowed yourself to be free to engage mind, body and spirit, how (dare i say it) awesome the weekends would be for you.  hmmmmm think about it.

peace 2 you (by the way, as for that song from the eighties…it really is a fun song that you hear in a cheesy eighties movie :)

hurry up and wait…

okay, so have you ever felt like you were so pumped up to do something or be somewhere but you feel as if you are in wait mode? through the wait time do you lose your fire? there is always something exciting about doing ministry.  as we at ncc saw just a few weeks ago, you can be so passionate about the ministry of Christ and meeting the needs of people that the energy spreads out to friends, other churches, moms, dads and children (yes, even the “i’m like so not into that” teenagers).

so what now?  how do we keep the fire lit? in the meantime, as you are waiting for your next ministry opportunity…look around.  it’s probably right before your eyes. there is always work to be done, people to be drawn to Him and needs to be met. whether it’s in the church or outside of the church doors, stay fired up as you worship Him with your life and serve Him wherever he takes you! pray for guidance.

not satisfied…

i am…not satifsied with just sitting around, not satisfied with waiting around, not satisfied with being a spectator, not satisfied with doing the norm, not satisfied with more of the same, not satisfied with just simply being served.  we serve a God that went all out for us!!! as we reflect upon the remembrance and celebration of holy week/easter/resurrection weekend and what it all means, is it possible to simply be satisfied with not being passionate and fired up?

in the midst of set lists and programming and services and stuff,  something happened over easter week for me.  i had a personal experience with God allowing me to see grace extended up close and personal in an extreme situation (it’s really interesting that it happened in that week). so, i guess you can say that God resurrected my heart.  what Christ did for us and how He continues to prove himself over and over again is enough for us to share that hope with others so that they can see how BIG the God we serve is.  i thought i was pretty fired up before now…my desire to stay passionate and motivated for Him took a whole new turn.  i hope that what you do , how you live and how you love inspires others to be changed forever.

peace 2 u!   toni (jonesgurl)
